After my morning workout today, I walked by TalentHouse – a nifty incubator space in downtown Palo Alto. It had a vibe that made me feel like I’d want to work there:
- Open and airy
- Big-ass espresso machine
- Clean and crisp
- Local art on the wall
- and a white drum set and a Gibson Les Paul
I’m also guessing that there are wicked-smart peeps in there working on cool things.
It got me thinking that work surroundings are important to attracting good talent. It’s not the only thing – probably not one of the top 3 – but given the choice to work in a dark, dingy, run down office vs. a clean office that looks like someone gives a shit, the latter is going to win.
